Local Shooters Kick Off the New Season

This past weekend five shooters took part in a warm-up, small bore rifle competition at the High Performance Marksmanship Training Facility in St. John�s. Turn out for this first event met organizer expectations, with six starts. Shooters competed in the prone position shooting both the international and Canadian sporting rifle events. Each event is shot with .22 caliber rifles at 20 yards.

Top spot for the international event went to Dave Woolridge with 584 out of possible 600. Laurie Hearn, narrowly missed top honours, shooting 583 but was first in the female group. New comer Mitchell Ryall secured top junior with 516/600.

Dave also took first in the Canadian Sporting Rifle event with 573 - 11x of a maximum possible 600 - 60 x. Peter Fitzgerald took first junior in Canadian Sporting Rifle with 557 - 11x.

The next match on the NLSA schedule is international air rifle and air pistol competition for October 20.
