Canada Basketball Be One Scholarship Winners

School Sport Newfoundland and Labrador are pleased to announce the recipients of the Canada Basketball Be One scholarships for Newfoundland and Labrador for the 2006-07 school year. Scholarships for five male and five female graduating students, who have been active basketball players, are made available by Canada Basketball. Each scholarship is valued at $500. Nominations were accepted from all high schools in the province. Candidates were evaluated based on their academic success, leadership in the amateur sport community through well-rounded participation as a high school basketball athlete, as well as on the basis of their school and community activities.

In making the announcement, Gerald Wheeler, president of SSNL states, " We are very pleased to once again this year be involved with Canada Basketball in the Be One scholarship program. We want to thank Canada Basketball for their efforts in helping us promote the student-athletes in our province. Through their financial support, more active students are able to continue with their post secondary education."

The recipients for the 2006-07 school year are:
