Media Advisory: Minister to Address Gander Chamber of Commerce

As a lead-up to Tourism Awareness Week taking place June 4 to 10, Tourism Culture and Recreation Minister, the Honourable Tom Hedderson, will address the Gander Chamber of Commerce during a luncheon Friday, June 1, beginning at noon at the Albatross Hotel. The luncheon is put off in partnership with Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, the Gander Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Gander and the Kittiwake Coast Tourism Association.

Tourism Awareness Week provides an opportunity to highlight the economic benefits created by the tourism industry in Newfoundland and Labrador and to encourage residents to be tourists at home.

The Williams Government continues to invest in the tourism sector and is aggressively marketing Newfoundland and Labrador as a world-class tourism destination. An additional $1 million for tourism marketing in Budget 2007 brings the annual marketing investment to $11 million nearly doubling the budget since 2003.
