Tourism, Culture and Recreation February 15, 2007 The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador: Provincial Basketball Championships The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) will have 36 teams in competition this weekend, February 16-18 for the "U14 Boys and Girls Pepsi Championships." G. C. Rowe of Corner Brook will host the West Coast Girls event with six teams competing, while Xavier Junior High of Deer Lake will entertain five boys teams. The East Coast Boys "A" will take place at St. Peter�s Jr. High in Mount Pearl with seven teams competing, and St. Lawrence will host the five teams competing in the "B" division. East Coast Girls "A" are scheduled for Mobile with five teams competing, while St. Bonaventure�s School in St. John�s will host an eight team "B" event. Play gets under way on Friday afternoon and will conclude with the championship games on Saturday evening and Sunday.
