The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Provincial Basketball Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will have 52 teams in competition this weekend, February 9-11 for the U12 Boys and Girls Pepsi Championships.

J. J. Curling of Corner Brook will host the west coast girls event with six teams competing while C.C. Loughlin, also of Corner Brook, will entertain eight boys� teams.

The east coast boys A will take place in St. John�s at St. John Bosco with five teams competing; the B is scheduled for St. Francis of Assisi in Outer Cove with eight teams entered and the C event take place at Newtown Elementary with seven teams competing for the title.

The east coast girls are scheduled for Gould�s Elementary with eight teams entered and Clarenville Middle School will play host to the 10 team B division.

Play gets under way on Friday afternoon and will conclude with the championship games on Sunday. For a complete list of all teams and schedules please visit the NLBA Web site at www.nlba.nf.ca or contact the provincial office at 709-576-0247.
