Public Advisory: Eastern Labrador Focus
of Geology Lecture
The Department of Natural Resources invites the public
to attend a free lecture, From Outcrop to Continent a Geological
Odyssey through Eastern Labrador, Thursday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m.
at the Delta Hotel in St. John's as part of the Mineral Resources Review
2007.
The lecturer is Dr. Charles Gower, the 2007 recipient
of Canadas Provincial Geologists Medal and project geologist with the
Geological Survey of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Against a backdrop of his personal field work since he
began crisscrossing eastern Labrador in 1979, Dr. Gower will draw on his
collection of photos, journals and stories to present a picture of over
a billion years of earth history for the region. Using everyday
analogies, this lecture promises to be fascinating and understandable to
professional earth scientists and members of the public.
