Fire and Emergency Services � Newfoundland and Labrador (FES-NL) advises consumers of a recent decision to direct BRK Brands Inc. and its subsidiaries, divisions and affiliates in Canada to discontinue the sale and display of the product First Alert � Tundra Extinguishing Spray in the province.

The Tundra Extinguishing Spray is packaged in a 414 ml (14 fluid ounce), aerosol-like container. It is marketed in Canada by Dicon Global. The Tundra Extinguishing Spray is sold at various retail stores throughout the province, including Canadian Tire, Walmart and Sears. The product is not listed or labeled by a recognized testing authority in Canada.

In compliance with Consolidated Newfoundland Regulation (CNR) 958/96, the product should not be made available for purchase, nor should consumers who have already purchased this product consider it as a substitute for portable fire extinguishers.

As the holiday season approaches, FES-NL recommends the purchase of an appropriately listed and rated extinguisher for all occupancies. This will ensure that the product will perform as rated through the standardized testing performed by a recognized testing authority. While registered and tested extinguishers may diminish initial damage to homes and businesses, it is strongly recommended that you contact your local fire department immediately when a fire starts.

FES-NL has informed distributors and sellers of the First Alert - Tundra Extinguishing Spray to discontinue sales and display immediately.
