Development Session to Help Businesses wishing to learn more about doing business with various levels of government have the opportunity to attend a supplier development information and networking session at the Capital Hotel in St. John�s from 8:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., November 28. �These sessions are offered by the Provincial Government and its partners to help local businesses develop new public sector markets,� said the Honourable Trevor Taylor, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development. "This event will allow businesses to interact with purchasing representatives at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. If a business is interested in providing goods or services to the public sector, this session will be very beneficial. The various levels of government are large purchasers of services � the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador itself spends in excess of $400 million annually.� The session is being delivered by the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development in partnership with Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE). "NLOWE is delighted to partner with the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters for this valuable session," said Nena Abundo, NLOWE�s executive director. "The public sector purchases a wide range of products and services. This event will enable business owners to tap into new markets and broaden their client base." Bill Stirling, vice-president, CME, Newfoundland and Labrador Division noted, "Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters has a number of programs and services to help businesses interested in exploring opportunities within new markets. We are pleased to be a partner in the delivery of this session, which presents a great opportunity for the local business community to learn about the purchasing requirements and processes of public sector entities."
