Public Advisory: Shops Closing Holidays, 2008

The public is advised that the following days are to be observed as holidays during the 2008 calendar year. These are noted under the authority and provisions of The Shop Closing Act.

New Year�s Day*	Tuesday, January 1, 2008
Good Friday*	Friday, March 21, 2008
Easter Sunday	Sunday, March 23, 2008
Victoria Day	Monday, May 19, 2008
Memorial/Canada Day*	Tuesday, July 1, 2008
Labour Day*	Monday, September 1, 2008
Thanksgiving Day	Monday, October 13, 2008
Remembrance Day*	Tuesday, November 11, 2008
Christmas Day*	Thursday, December 25, 2008
Boxing Day	Friday, December 26, 2008

* Six paid holidays

In addition to the foregoing holidays, The Shops Closing Act sets for observance as holidays, the following:

In the City of St, John�s the day determined as Regatta Day;

In the Town of Harbour Grace, the day determined as Regatta Day; and

In any other municipality, the day fixed by the council as a public holiday therein.
