Parties to IOC Contract Negotiations Called Back to the Table

Parties involved in the Iron Company of Canada (IOC) contract negotiations are being called back to the bargaining table.

The Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, announced today that officials from the Labour Relations Agency have contacted representatives of IOC and the United Steelworkers, Locals 5795 and 6731, for meetings set to resume on March 6, 2007, in Labrador City.

"It is my hope that in returning to the bargaining table the parties will make every effort to find enough common ground to allow for a resolution that balances the interests of both and averts a labour dispute," said Minister Skinner.
