House of Assembly November 26, 2007 House of Assembly Management Commission to Hold Next Meeting Speaker Roger Fitzgerald announced today that the House of Assembly Management Commission will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. The House of Assembly Management Commission is the non-partisan body which governs the various administrative and policy matters respecting the House of Assembly and the Statutory Offices which report to the House. The commission includes members from the three political parties with seats in the House of Assembly, pursuant to Subsections 18(2) and (3) of the House of Assembly Accountability, Integrity and Administration Act. The new commission consists of: Speaker Roger Fitzgerald; Honourable Tom Rideout, Government House Leader; Mr. Kelvin Parsons, Opposition House Leader; Honourable Tom Marshall, Minister of Finance; Ms. Elizabeth Marshall, MHA for the District of Topsail; Ms. Yvonne Jones, Leader of the Opposition and Ms. Lorraine Michael, Leader of the New Democratic Party. The clerk is a non-voting member of the commission. The Deputy Speaker, Mr. Jack Byrne, may also attend commission meetings but is not a voting member, except in the absence of the speaker. The November 28 meeting agenda includes a status report on the recommendations from the Green Report, clarification of various issues in the Members� Resources and Allowances Rules, a review of caucus staff resources, the proposed House of Assembly publication scheme and financial reports on the House of Assembly. As provided for in Section 19 of the Act, the commission will hold an in camera session to consider a funding request for a special warrant to be submitted to Executive Council. The meeting is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the House of Assembly Chamber. The proceedings will be broadcast on cable television in a manner similar to House of Assembly proceedings.
