Premier Congratulates John Crosbie on Appointment as Province�s New Lieutenant Governor

The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today congratulated John Crosbie on his appointment by the Prime Minister as the province�s new Lieutenant Governor.

�Mr. Crosbie is an excellent choice as the next Lieutenant Governor for Newfoundland and Labrador,� said Premier Williams. �Mr. Crosbie has served the people of this province and indeed the country in many capacities. He has done so with vigor, passion and expertise. I welcome him to this new role, and look forward to working with him in his capacity as the Queen�s representative.�

The Premier also thanked outgoing Lieutenant Governor, Edward Roberts for his service.

�Mr. Roberts was a tremendous asset to Government House, and he served the people of the province well,� said Premier Williams. �He was an outstanding Lieutenant Governor and I think he will be remembered as being accessible, approachable and dedicated in his performance. I wish him and his family well in the future.�
