Executive Council December 13, 2007 Media Advisory: Caring Canadian Awards On behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Micha�lle Jean, Governor General of Canada, His Honour the Honourable Edward Roberts, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, will present the Governor General�s Caring Canadian Awards to Mrs. Marion Ash, Dr. Maureen Dunne, and Mr. William E. Roche at Government House tomorrow (Friday, December 14) at 2:30 p.m. Created in 1996 by the Right Honourable Rom�o LeBlanc, the award is presented to individuals and groups whose unpaid, voluntary contributions provide extraordinary help or care to people in the community. Recipients have served over a number of years and normally have not been recognized previously by a national or provincial honour. Media representatives planning to cover the ceremony are asked to be in place by 2:00 p.m. and are asked to contact Doug Smith, Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, by 4:00 p.m. today to confirm their attendance. -30- Media contact: 2007 12 13 9:45 a.m.
