Executive Council December 13, 2007 Senior Appointment Announced The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Ross Reid as deputy minister with responsibility for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector. "Mr. Reid brings to this role years of personal and professional experience in the volunteer and non-profit sector, as well as valuable experience with both the Federal and Provincial Governments," said Premier Williams. "With the most recent Cabinet changes, we now have for the very first time a Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector. As deputy minister, Mr. Reid will play a key role in the assisting the minister carry out the mandate of that new office." Mr. Reid�s appointment was effective December 11. -30- Media contact:
Biographical Information
From November 2003 to January 2007, Ross Reid served
as Deputy Minister to the Premier. He has served with the National
Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Afghanistan, Kosovo,
Ghana and Ukraine, and has advised on and conducted democratic
development programs in more than 25 countries in Asia, Africa and
Europe. A former Member of Parliament and Cabinet minister representing
Newfoundland and Labrador in the Government of Canada, Mr. Reid has
served as chief of staff to the federal Minister of Finance and an
