The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced that the by-election in Labrador West will be held on Tuesday, March 13.

"It is a pleasure to announce that residents of Labrador West will have the opportunity to go to the polls and vote for new representation on March 13," said Premier Williams. "The legislation was amended in 2004 to ensure a district does not go without representation for a prolonged period of time."

Mr. Randy Collins vacated his seat in Labrador West on February 14.

"Our government deems it extremely important that all regions in Newfoundland and Labrador have a strong voice and representative in the House of Assembly. I look forward to a vigorous and enthusiastic campaign by all candidates in Labrador West. I also encourage all residents to exercise their democratic right, and get out and vote on March 13."
