Cabinet Discussions Focus on Strengthening Foundation for Continued Growth

Budget 2007 and what is shaping up to be a busy legislative agenda for the House of Assembly were among the key agenda items for the Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and his Cabinet when they met in Corner Brook today.

This has been an excellent opportunity for Cabinet to have in-depth discussion about many of our economic and social priorities in preparation for our next budget and the spring session of the House of Assembly, Premier Williams said. Decisions we make on these priorities over the coming weeks will be key as we continue to lay a strong foundation for economic and social development and growth.

The Premier added that the goal of this budget will be to build upon on the significant progress the Provincial Government has made over the past three years in key areas such as poverty reduction, health care, infrastructure investment, innovation strategies, education and economic diversification.

Building on our successes to date and embracing new opportunities will help us to realize our vision for a stronger, more prosperous future for Newfoundland and Labrador, concluded the Premier.

Premier Williams said he and his Cabinet welcome the opportunity to have such discussions outside the capital city.
