Executive Council January 26, 2007 New Assistant Deputy Minister Appointed for Business The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Laurie L. Skinner as Assistant Deputy Minister, Department of Business. "Ms. Skinner brings to the provincial public service strong managerial experience with private sector companies operating in a globally competitive environment," Premier Williams said. "I look forward to her contribution in the Department of Business in promoting business development in the province." Ms. Skinner�s appointment is effective January 29. 30 � Media contact:
Ms. Skinner has been assistant corporate controller with Stratos Global Corporation in St. John�s since 2003. She has also worked with Vector Aerospace Corporation in St. John�s, first as assistant corporate controller, and later as corporate controller. Prior to joining Vector Aerospace, Ms. Skinner worked with Ernst & Young LLP, Chartered Accountants as senior accountant, audit and advisory services. Ms. Skinner has a bachelor of commerce degree (honours) from Memorial University. In 1997, she successfully completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Uniform Final Examination at the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy.
