Crown Land Cottage Lots Available for Sale in New Harbour

A public draw for 10 Crown land cottage lots at Dinneys Pond will take place on November 8, 2007. The lots are located approximately five kilometres east of New Harbour, Trinity Bay.

"The development and sale of cottage lots on Crown land is a land use management approach developed by my department to meet the increasing public demand for this type of land ownership throughout the province," said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation. "This approach also ensures proper and fair allocation of Crown land."

An application fee of $114 is required with each application submitted. The fee will be credited towards the cost of processing successful applications and will only be refunded to applicants unsuccessful in the draw. Applicants may attend the public draw that takes place at the Eastern Regional Lands Office on November 8; however, it is not necessary. Applicants will be notified by certified mail about the lot selection meeting and the ranking of the applications in the public draw. The actual selection of lots will take place at a subsequent public meeting. Applicants will be required to attend this meeting. Prices for these lots range from $7,700 to $9,800 and will be sold as outright ownership grants. The full price must be paid upon signature of the grant document.

All applicants are encouraged to inspect lots and review the evaluation report about the site condition of each lot prior to the selection meeting. Any lots remaining after the lot selection meeting will be offered to the public on a first come, first served basis on the next business day.

Application forms and information about individual lot location, site condition and prices are available on the departments Web site at www.gov.nl.ca/env/lands/lm or by contacting the Eastern Regional Lands Office at 709-729-2654.

Applications must be submitted to the Eastern Regional Lands Office, 5 Mews Place, St. Johns, A1B 4J6 on or before 4:30 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2007. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted.
