Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and
Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental
Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Crown District 17 and 18 (Northern Peninsula) Five
Year Forest Operating Plan
(2008-12)
Proponent: Department of Natural Resources (Reg. 1353)
The proposal is a five-year forest operating plan for
Districts 17 and 18 that outlines timber harvest plans, silviculture
treatments and primary road locations. In District 17, approximately
273,000 cubic metres of timber will be harvested and approximately 48
kilometres of primary access roads are to be constructed on a parcel of
approximately 129,000 hectares of productive forest land. In District
18, approximately 650,000 cubic metres of timber will be harvested and
approximately 180 kilometres of primary access roads will be constructed
on a parcel of approximately 159,000 hectares of productive forest land.
The undertaking was registered on October 9, 2007;
public comments are due by November 16, 2007; and the minister's
decision is due on November 23, 2007.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay Vegetable Farm
Proponent: Mr. Tom Angiers (Reg. 1354)
The proposal is for a vegetable farm on Welburn Bay
Road located off Route 520 in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay region. The
site consists of approximately 122 hectares, of which 113 hectares will
be utilized for the production of locally sold produce. Physical
features include a vegetable storage, access laneways, windbreaks, and
perimeter fencing. Construction commencement is tentatively scheduled
for fall of 2007.
The undertaking was registered on October 10, 2007;
public comments are due by November 16, 2007; and the minister's
decision is due on November 23, 2007.
Comments on submitted documents are invited from the
public, addressed in writing to the minister, prior to the deadline date
shown.
