Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Crown District 7 (Bay d�Espoir) Five Year Forest Operating Plan (08-12)
Proponent: Department Natural Resources                                                    (Reg. 1349)

The proponent proposes a five-year forest operating plan for District 7 that outlines timber harvest plans, silviculture treatments and primary road locations. The planning area encompasses approximately 188,000 ha of productive forest stands within an area of approximately 1.2 million ha. The targeted stands are generally over-mature stands of black spruce and white birch. 23.5 km of new roads will be constructed and 40.4 km of existing roads will be reconstructed. The undertaking was registered on September 14, 2007; the deadline for public comments is October 25, 2007; and the minister's decision is due by October 29, 2007.

Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, prior to the deadline date shown.
