Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Deer Lake Hotel Development (Reg. 1347)

Proponent: Resource Development Associates Inc./Winport Developments Inc.

The proposal is to construct an 82-room hotel in the Town of Deer Lake. The site is bounded by the Trans Canada Highway to the south and Great Northern Peninsula Highway to the west and the Humber River to the north. Construction is to commence in the fall of 2007, pending approval, over a 12-month period.

The undertaking was registered on August 30, 2007; public comments are due by October 5, 2007; and the minister's decision is due by September 14, 2007.

Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, prior to the deadline date shown.

COMPONENT STUDY (FINAL TEXT) ACCEPTED AS SATISFACTORY:

Freshwater Component Study

Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant

Proponent: Voisey�s Bay Nickel Company Limited (Reg. 1243)

The minister has accepted the Freshwater Component Study for the Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant Environmental Impact Statement. Some errors have been corrected and clarifications and supplementary information have been provided as required. The final text dated August 9, 2007 is now available on the Environmental Assessment Division Web site.
