Environment and Conservation Minister the Honourable Clyde Jackman has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

COMPONENT STUDY ACCEPTED AS SATISFACTORY:

Marine Environment Component Study
Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant
Proponent: Voisey�s Bay Nickel Company Limited                                          (Reg. 1243)

The minister has accepted the Marine Environment Component Study for the Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant Environmental Impact Statement contingent upon the proponent attending to supplementary information requirements, errors, and clarifications; and submitting a final text (which will be distributed, but will not go to further review).

EXTENSION TO DEADLINE FOR DECISION ON COMPONENT STUDY:

Terrestrial Environment Component Study
Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant
Proponent: Voisey�s Bay Nickel Company Limited                                          (Reg. 1243)

The proponent has agreed to extend the minister's deadline for a decision on the Terrestrial Environment Component Study for the Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant Environmental Impact Statement. This decision is now expected on or before Friday, June 29, 2007.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Marble Mountain/Steady Brook Zip Tours
Proponent: Marble Zip Tours Ltd.                                                                  (Reg. 1342)

The proposed undertaking will consist of a series of galvanized steel cables across the waters of Steady Brook, complete with take-off and landing platforms, cable termination structures and walkway trails. The development is within the boundaries of the Marble Mountain Development Corporation, adjacent to the town of Steady Brook and eight kilometres east of Corner Brook. The zip tour will start near the Steady Brook water treatment building and span across the water at six locations, terminating halfway down the hill between the water treatment building and the base of the mountain.

The undertaking was registered on June 26, 2007; public comments are due by August 1, 2007; and, the minister's decision is due by August 10, 2007.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
