Funds Provided to Clean Up Illegal Dump Site

The Provincial Government is providing funds to assist in the cleanup of an illegal dump site in the Town of Botwood. The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, today announced $6,600 for the cleanup.

"This government remains committed to protecting our natural environment," said Minister Jackman. "We recognize the damage being done to the environment as well as the impact on tourism potential and have taken measures to address it. I am very pleased to assist the Town of Botwood."

The minister reaffirmed that funding for the cleanup of illegal dumpsites is consistent with government�s commitment to protecting our natural environment and creating healthier communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

"I'm extremely pleased that our government has committed to assisting the Town of Botwood in the cleanup of this site," said Clayton Forsey, MHA for Exploits. "I have worked closely with Minister Jackman and his department in dealing with this matter."

"I commend the Town of Botwood for recognizing the need to clean up this site," said Minister Jackman. "We will continue to address illegal dumping to keep our province green."
