Environment and Conservation Minister Clyde Jackman has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.


DRAFT GUIDELINES RELEASED FOR PUBLIC REVIEW:

Newfoundland and Labrador Refinery Project                                          (Reg. 1301)
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Refining Corporation

The minister has released the draft guidelines for the Environmental Impact Statement for the above undertaking for public review and comment. The purpose of the guidelines, which will be issued to the proponent after public review of the draft guidelines, is to assist the proponent in completing an Environmental Impact Statement which conforms to legislative requirements. The guidelines will also require the proponent to address information requirements that will assist the minister in making an informed decision on the undertaking. Public comments with respect to the draft guidelines must be submitted to the Minister of Environment and Conservation, in writing, by May 12, 2007.
