Date Set for the Judicial Recount in The Isles of Notre Dame

Newfoundland and Labrador�s Chief Electoral Officer, Paul Reynolds, confirmed today that the date has been set for the judicial recount in The Isles of Notre Dame electoral district.

The recount will begin on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at the Supreme Court in Grand Falls-Windsor.

According to the Elections Act, 1991, an election that results in a difference of 10 votes or less must have a judicial recount. The election in The Isles of Notre Dame resulted in a difference of only seven votes between Derrick Dalley of the Progressive Conservative Party and Gerry Reid of the Liberal Party. According to the official count, Derrick Dalley had 2,371 votes and Gerry Reid had 2,364 votes.
