Writs Issued for the October 9, 2007 Provincial General Election

Newfoundland and Labrador�s Chief Electoral Officer, Paul Reynolds, confirmed today that writs have been issued to all 48 returning officers for the October 9, 2007 Provincial General Election.

The staff at Elections Newfoundland and Labrador has been working very diligently to ensure that this election process runs smoothly. With recent events like the enumeration, boundary changes, and changes to special ballot voting, it has been a busy time at the Chief Electoral Office.

Throughout the election period, the Chief Electoral Office will be open Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. This applies for both regular office hours and for special ballot voting.

There are 1,546 polling divisions, 105 Advance Polls, 48 Special Ballot District Offices and 10 designated special ballot office locations.
