Norman Bay-Williams Harbour ferry service delayed

Trevor Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced that the commencement of the ferry service between Norman Bay and Williams Harbour, originally scheduled for June 9, has been postponed by seven to 10 days.

The MV Challenge One, operated by Puddisters Trading Company, has experienced a delay in its annual refit and cannot meet the planned start date.

Recognizing the importance of this service to the residents, the Department of Transportation and Works will provide a daily helicopter passenger service beginning June 12, to enable connections between the communities of Williams Harbour, Norman Bay and Charlottetown.

In the interim, the Department of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs in Happy Valley-Goose Bay can provide freight service via long-liner.
