The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Newfoundlanders claim three Atlantic championships titles

Newfoundland and Labrador junior tennis players Allison Day, Matthew Lahey and Daria Snow all walked away with Atlantic championship titles at the 2006 outdoor summer Atlantic Regional Championships which were held last week in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

Both Day and Lahey claimed the under 12 divisions with sound victories. Allison Day, of St. John�s, won the girls final with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Meghan Adams of Nova Scotia. Matthew Lahey, of St. John�s, followed in suit with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Zach Leblanc of New Brunswick.

Girls under 14 action saw Daria Snow, also of St. John�s, take the title by defeating Nova Scotia�s Stephanie Bagnell 6-3, 6-3.
