Kavanagh remains basketball president  

Dr. Basil Kavanagh has been re-elected as president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association after this past weekend�s annual general meeting, held in St. John�s . David Constantine of Dunville was elected as vice president while John Pinto of St. John�s was elected to the position of policy director. Rose Chidley of Renews was elected secretary/treasurer and Mark Jones will remain in the position of past president.  Other members of the association include:  Roger Head of St. John�s (senior director), Bob White of Harbour Grace (minor director), Brian Payne of Labrador City (northern director), Jim Loder of St. Lawrence (eastern director), Mark Nash of Dunville (Avalon director), Scott Lynch (Mount Pearl south director) and Kevin Fitzpatrick (St. John�s north director).  

The NLBA award winners for the 2005-06 season included:  Darrell Ezekiel of St. John �s (Minor Male Coach of Year), Jean Corbett of Avondale (Minor Female Coach of Year), Bas Kavanagh of St. John�s (Elite Coach of Year). Linda Scanlon (Shea Heoghts Minor) and Ig Parsons (Metro League) were both presented with NLBA Achievement Awards.  The President�s Award was presented to Joe Lake of St. John�s for his contribution to the Hall of Fame along with his involvement in the Hall of Fame Cup/Elite 8 Championships.
