The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

NL teams finish on top for Atlantic Canada

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association would like to congratulate the teams that participated in the Eastern Canadian Volleyball Championships in Moncton, NB. Hosted by Volleyball Canada 180 teams participated in the three-day event. In the end the NL teams had the best finishes out of any Atlantic Province beating out top ranked Ontario and

Quebec teams along the way. The teams that competed and their finishes are below:

1. Clarenville High:   16 & Under Male (Silver Medal Tier 1)
2. Ascension Collegiate:   16 & Under Female (4th Place Tier 1)
3. G.C. Rowe Junior High:   14 & Under Female (Gold Medal Tier 2)
4. Havoc Volleyball:   16 & Under Female (7th Place Tier 4)
Corner Brook
5. G.C. Rowe Junior High:   15 & Under Male (14th Tier 1)
6. Over the Top (CBS):   15 & Under Female (7th Place Tier 4)

Clarenville, Ascension, and G.C. Rowe had the best finishes out of any Atlantic teams. This is the best finish by Newfoundland and Labrador Teams since the inception of the open tournament concept where the best teams in ON, QC, PEI, NS, NB, and NL compete. Since the open concept tournaments have increased from 24 teams to 180 teams per event.
