First junior high school (only) invitational track and field meet

Brother Rice Junior High School and the Canada Games Track and Field Prep-Squad will host the first Junior High School only Invitational Track and Field Meet on Saturday June 3, 2006 at the Pearlgate Track and Field Complex, Mount Pearl.

This meet offers an individual and a school competition for junior high school boys and girls. To be eligible to take part in the meet a student must be attending a Junior High School on a full-time basis. A student must be born in 1991, 1992, or 1993. A student enrolled in Grade 7 but born in 1994 is also eligible to take part in the meet.

This first ever junior high school only track and field meet encourages participation over winning. There is no limit to the number of athletes a school can enter in this meet. The event is "cut-free" and will provide an opportunity for some students to experience track and field for the first time. Coaches and teacher sponsors are invited to register their experienced students as well as those students who are new to the sport of track and field.

All athletes may compete in up to three events.

There is no limit to the number of athletes a school can enter in an event.
