The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador to announce 2005 scholarship winners

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador will announce winners of its annual scholarship program. The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to qualifying amateur athletes, coaches and officials to help offset the costs of training and competition.

WHEN: Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 12 noon

WHO: Tom Godden, President, Sport Newfoundland and Labrador
          Jim Tee, Director Sport and Recreation Division Provincial Government
          Keith Soper, Marketing Director, The Telegram
          22 Scholarship Recipients

WHERE: Holiday Inn, St. John�s, Newfoundland, Salon D

WHAT: 22 scholarships will be handed out to athletes from around the province who excel in their chosen sport while maintaining a high standard of academics. Scholarships are valued at $500 each.
