Minister to participate in news conference to unveil Celebrate Nunatsiavut  

Tom Hedderson, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will join Ben Ponniuk, Minister of Health, Education, Social and Economic Development for the Nunatsiavut Government, and Dr. James Igloliorte of the Nunatsiavut Development Corporation, at a news conference April 19 to unveil Celebrate Nunatsiavut, a cultural celebration taking place at The Rooms Provincial Museum from April 19 - 23, 2006 .  

Following the news conference, Stanley Nochasak and Sophie Angnatok will give a performance of Inuit drumming and singing.  

Celebrate Nunatsiavut is a chance for visitors to get to know some of the Inuit who call Nunatsiavut home, to experience their way of life in the past and the present, and to see what the future holds in store.  For more information, check out //www.therooms.ca  

On December 1, 2005 , self-government became a reality for the Labrador Inuit and Nunatsiavut was born. Nunatsiavut means "our beautiful land" in Inuktitut.  

The news conference will take place at 10:30 a.m. at The Rooms.
