Provincial basketball championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will see over 42 teams compete this weekend, April 7-9 in six juvenile (U17) championships in various regions of the province.

The East Coast Boys "A" event will take place at St. Kevin�s School in the Goulds with eight teams competing. The East Coast Boys "B" is scheduled for Laval High in Placentia with eight teams participating while Ascension Collegiate in Bay Roberts will host seven teams in the East Coast Boys "C" event.

The East Coast Girls "A" event is scheduled for Mobile High with six teams entered while Carbonear Collegiate will host the eight team East Coast Girls "B" championship.

Stephenville High School will play host to the five team West Coast Boys championship.

Play gets under way Friday and will conclude with the championship games slated for Sunday afternoon.
