Board Members Elected

The board of directors of the Municipal Assessment Agency is pleased to announce the election of the municipal representatives on the agency�s board of directors. "With 28 candidates for the six positions and 78 per cent of eligible municipalities casting ballots, the election process was quite successful," said nomination chairperson Rodney Cumby. "I welcome the new representatives and congratulate all the candidates." The announcement was made during the agency�s 2006 annual general meeting held in Gander on October 5. Elected for three-year terms beginning in January 2007 are:

Labrador Deputy Mayor Terry Hancock, Forteau
Western Mayor Darryl Kelly, Deer Lake
Central Councillor Barry Oake, Grand Falls-Windsor
Eastern Mayor Fred Best, Clarenville
Avalon Deputy Mayor Deborah Quilty, Paradise
Urban Councillor Sterling Willis, Paradise

The Municipal Assessment Agency provides real property assessment service to 230 municipalities across the province. Its board is representative of the agency�s stakeholders with six municipal representatives, two taxpayer representatives, two provincial government representatives and a representative from each of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Municipalities and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Municipal Administrators.
