NLIS 1 August 3, 2006 (Justice) New appointments to Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Justice Minister and Attorney General Tom Marshall today announced appointments to senior positions within the ranks of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. Minister Marshall said having qualified police officers permanently in place will ensure the people of the Northeast Avalon, Corner Brook and Labrador West are receiving the best possible policing services. "The Williams government has been working diligently to provide both the RNC and the RCMP with the appropriate amount of resources to effectively police this province," said Minister Marshall. "In Budget 2006 alone we invested an unprecedented $10 million and will continue to make sound investments to ensure our police forces are leaders throughout the country. "I would like to congratulate each of these individuals on their well-deserved appointments. I look forward to working with all members of the RNC to ensure Newfoundlanders and Labradorians continue to feel safe and secure in their communities." Chief Joe Browne said he welcomes these new additions to his management team. "Each appointee possesses the knowledge, skills and ability to effectively perform in these new roles and we expect transitions to be seamless," said Chief Browne.
