Renovations on NLHC Housing Units in Port aux Basques Near Completion

Approximately $70,000 in modernization and improvement work on Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC) social housing units in the Port aux Basques area is nearing completion. The Honourable Paul Shelley, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and minister responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC), made the announcement today.

A This refurbishment work on the Port aux Basques units is long over due and I am pleased to see it move forward and become a reality," said Minister Shelley. "This project will improve living environment and comfort of our tenants and advance the street appeal of their neighbourhood and the Town of Port aux Basques."

This work is being done by Tech Construction who was awarded the contract this fall. The contract for modernization and improvement work includes new windows, installation of vinyl siding and door replacements. The renovations are being completed on four duplexes for a total of eight units.

Completion of the work on these units is anticipated by the end of December 2006.
