Minister Appoints Conciliation Board for FPI/FFAW Contract Negotiations

A conciliation board is being appointed to assist in contract negotiations between Fishery Products International (FPI) and the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union (FFAW). The Honourable Paul Shelley, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and minister responsible for the Labour Relations Agency is appointing the board as per section 107 of the Labour Relations Act.

The board will assist FPI and the FFAW in their current round of collective bargaining affecting approximately 1,600 plant workers at seven plants in the province.

"I am appointing a conciliation board, based on advice from my officials, to assist both the union and the company in reaching a collective agreement," said Minister Paul Shelley. "I have asked the Labour Relations Agency to contact both Fishery Products International and the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union and move forward with establishing the conciliation board."
