Minister encourages parties involved in the Voiseys Bay dispute to return to bargaining table

Paul Shelley, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, announced today that the parties involved in the Voiseys Bay labour dispute are being called back to the bargaining table.

Minister Shelley said that senior officials from the Labour Relations Agency will be contacting representatives of the Steelworkers Union and Voiseys Bay Nickel and setting up meeting dates for exploratory talks.

The strike is now entering its seventh week and it is my hope that in returning to the bargaining table the parties will be able to find enough common ground to allow for a resolution to this dispute, the minister said.
