NOTE TO EDITORS: Minister attending meeting of Atlantic Federal-Provincial Ministers of Immigration

Paul Shelley, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, will meet with his Atlantic colleagues responsible for immigration and Monte Solberg, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, in Halifax, August 9.

Minister Shelley will take the opportunity to discuss how the federal government�s immigration program can further benefit Atlantic Canada. Ministers will explore ways of working cooperatively with the government of Canada to enhance the federal presence in the region. Agenda items for discussion include immigrant attraction, promotion, settlement and retention.
