Workers Compensation Review Committee submits report to government

The committee established to do a statutory review of the workers compensation system in the province has submitted its report to government.

"I commend the hard work and dedication of the committee in meeting its objective and completing it for my review," said Minister Paul Shelley. "I intend to meet with the committee and discuss their findings".

Established in November 2005 the Workers Compensation Review Committee was chaired by Bruce Peckford and included five other appointees that represented employers, employees, the Workplace Health and Safety Commission, and the community at large.

The committee engaged in province-wide consultations and provided opportunities for public input through attendance at roundtable discussions and through written submissions. This was the most extensive review conducted in recent history with the committee traveling to many rural communities right across our province.

"Over the coming weeks, government will share the report with stakeholders and the public and provide an opportunity for feedback," said Minister Shelley.
