NOTE TO EDITORS: Notice of fraudulent Long Term Assistance cheques

On Friday, March 17, it came to the attention of the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment that there have been two instances of fraudulent Long Term Assistance ("social assistance") cheques being cashed recently in the St. John�s area.

Businesses and financial institutions are advised to be extra vigilant and to be aware that upon closer inspection that the paper was of a lower quality.

The matter has been referred to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).
