Williams to Welcome Atlantic Premiers to Newfoundland and Labrador
The 13th Session of the Council of Atlantic Premiers
(CAP) will be held in St. Johns on Wednesday, December 6. The
Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, says
the meeting will focus on issues of common importance to the four
premiers and Atlantic Canadians generally.
This year, I have the pleasure of serving as chair of the Council of
the Federation (COF) and I was so pleased to host my colleagues from
across the country in our province for the Annual COF Summer Meeting,
said Premier Williams. I am very pleased to once again host my
colleagues from Atlantic Canada in our province, as we discuss issues of
mutual concern. I am confident we will have a productive meeting on the
issues that are of importance to us all such as energy policy, federal
economic and fiscal policies, immigration and Atlantic regional economic
development.
This weeks meeting will be the first opportunity for premiers Graham
and MacDonald to participate in CAP, and I am so pleased to welcome them
to this important forum, continued Premier Williams. Along with
Premier Binns, I know we have a strong complement of premiers whose
number one priority is to serve the best interests of their respective
provinces and the region of Atlantic Canada as a whole. I look forward
to very productive meetings, and to emerging with strong policies which
will advance the issues of Atlantic Canada on the national agenda.
The meeting will commence at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, at the
Delta St. Johns Hotel. A photo opportunity will be available between
9:30 and 9:40 a.m. in Salon F and G of the Harbourview Ballroom. A news
conference will be held in the Brownsdale Room at 1:30 p.m. A media
working area will be located in the St. Marys Bay Room and will be
available beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6.
