Premier Williams expresses condolences upon the death of Newfoundland and Labrador soldier

Premier Danny Williams today expressed condolences to the family and friends of Warrant Officer Richard Francis Nolan, who was tragically killed yesterday in Afghanistan.

"On behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, I express sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of Warrant Officer Nolan," said Premier Williams. "He served his country and the people of Afghanistan, as he worked selflessly to bring peace and hope to a country far from home. Warrant Officer Nolan paid the ultimate sacrifice in achieving this noble goal, and we will never forget his dedication and commitment to others. He is truly a hero who will never be forgotten."

Flags at Confederation Building are being flown at half mast to honour Warrant Officer Nolan.
