Federation Meeting to be Held in New Brunswick in 2007
St. Johns - Premier Bernard Lord
announced today that New Brunswick will host the 2007 annual summer
meeting of the Council of the Federation.
Premier Lord extended a warm invitation to all Premiers to come to
Moncton to experience New Brunswicks multicultural heritage, natural
beauty and hospitality. Premier Lord made the invitation during the 2006
summer meeting of the Council being held in St. Johns, NL, July 26-28.
Since we created the Council three years ago, Premiers have
demonstrated our ability to work collaboratively on issues that matter
to Canadians and I look forward to hosting a successful meeting of the
Council in 2007.
The Council of the Federation was created in December 2003 to promote
interprovincial-territorial cooperation and closer ties between members,
foster meaningful relations between governments based on respect for the
Constitution and recognition of the diversity within the federation, and
show leadership on issues important to all Canadians.
The 2007 Council of the Federation meeting will be held in Moncton from
Aug. 8-10.
