Second Annual Premier�s Athletic Awards reception - May 23, St. John�s; 
Team Gushue Scholarship Award to be announced

Premier Danny Williams will host the second annual Premier�s Athletic Awards at 4 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 23) at the Holiday Inn, St. John�s. Tom Hedderson, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

In recognition of Team Gushue�s gold medal victory at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, Premier Williams will also announce details on the new Team Gushue Scholarship Award.

The Premier�s Athletic Awards are designed to assist the province�s elite athletes by providing financial assistance to support them while competing at the Atlantic, national and international levels. A total of 92 athletes will be recognized this year.
