Premier Williams encourages Newfoundlanders and Labradorians
to apply for the Council of the Federation Youth Internship

Premier Danny Williams today encouraged young people from Newfoundland and Labrador to apply for the Council of the Federation (COF) Youth Internship. This program is aimed at encouraging young Canadians to participate more actively in public policy development, public service, government and political life. It provides young people with hands-on work experience and an opportunity to improve their understanding of how intergovernmental relations operate in the Canadian federation.

"This internship will provide a wonderful opportunity for a young Canadian to gain valuable experience in the workforce, while at the same time making a significant contribution to the public policy discourse of our country," said Premier Williams. "With Newfoundland and Labrador hosting this year�s Council of the Federation meetings July 26 � 28, I encourage as many young people as possible from our province apply for this prestigious placement."

This paid internship is for a period of 12 months and is located in Ottawa. Applicants must be aged 25 and under, have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized university, and be legally able to work in Canada. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in Canadian politics and federalism, and be able to communicate in English and French.

"Our province is set to host Canada�s leaders this summer and showcase our wonderful culture and heritage, and it would be wonderful to see a bright, young and energetic Newfoundlander and Labradorian receive this placement," added the premier. "I wish all applicants the best of luck in your application."
