Premier Danny Williams today expressed his condolences on the passing of former Member of the House of Assembly Dr. Ramon (Ray) Winsor.

"Dr. Winsor was a true advocate of democracy," said Premier Williams. "He was a strong voice for the people of the District of Mount Scio and spoke with conviction on issues of concern for them, and the province as a whole. I know his passion for Newfoundland and Labrador will be truly missed."

Dr. Winsor was elected in 1975 and served the people of Mount Scio for one term. During his tenure as MHA he served as chair of the Public Accounts Committee and the Government Caucus. In his private life, Dr. Winsor had a thriving dental practice in St. Johns.

"On behalf of the people and Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, I offer heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Winsor during this difficult time," added Premier Williams. "Whether as beloved dentist or dedicated MHA, I am confident that his legacy will live on in the hearts of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians."
