Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment
and Conservation has announced the following events relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
(1) Baine Harbour to Parkers Cove ATV/Walking Trail
(Reg. 1306)
Proponent: Baine Harbour Trail Association
The proponent proposes to construct a seven kilometre ATV/walking trail
from Baine Harbour to Parkers Cove, joining into the Parkers Cove ATV
trail. The trail will traverse open country, with approximately 600feet
of trail in a wooded area. Construction is tentatively scheduled to
begin in April 2007. The undertaking was registered on December 11,
2006; public comments are due by January 17, 2007; and, the minister's
decision is due by January 25, 2007.
(2) Exploits Valley Mink Farm
(Reg. 1307)
Proponent: Mr. Raymond Mullett
The proponent proposes to develop a 1,500 mink breeder farm. The kits
will be pelted and sold at auction. The site is approximately 10 acres
and is located on the eastern side of Route 360 (Bay d�Espoir Highway)
about one kilometre from the TCH. The site was a former fox farm started
in 1990. Three sheds 200ft by 30ft will be constructed. Construction is
tentatively scheduled to begin early in 2007. The undertaking was
registered on December 12, 2006; public comments are due by January 17,
2007; and, the minister's decision is due by January 26, 2007.
COMPONENT STUDY RECEIVED:
Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant Project
(Reg. 1243)
Proponent: Voisey's Bay Nickel Company
The proponent has submitted the required Historic Resources Component
Study for the environmental assessment of the above undertaking. Public
comments on the component study must be received not later than January
17, 2007. The minister�s decision date on the component study is January
31, 2007. For further information on this project contact the
