Media Advisory: Minister to Announce Bay du Nord as Canadian Heritage River

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, and Bill Brake, Newfoundland East Field Unit Superintendent, Parks Canada, will officially designate Bay du Nord as a Canadian Heritage River tomorrow, October 21.

The river designation ceremony and plaque unveiling takes place at 2:00 p.m. at the Pool's Cove Recreation Complex in Pool's Cove.

The Canadian Heritage Rivers System (CHRS) is Canada�s national river conservation program. It is a cooperative program of the governments of Canada, all 10 provinces and three territories. The objectives of the CHRS are to give national recognition to Canada�s outstanding rivers and to ensure long-term management that conserves their natural, cultural and recreational values.
